1. Who we are

Trucksalot is a trading name of Direct Commercial Finance Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales under company number 07842552, whose registered office is at No.9 Magazine B, Ordnance Yard, Upnor Road, Lower Upnor, Rochester, Kent, ME2 4UY. Direct Commercial Finance Ltd (“we”, “us”) is the controller of the personal information described in this notice.

If you have any questions about this notice or your information, contact us at hello@trucksalot.co.uk.

2. Information we collect

If you send an enquiry about a truck, we collect your name, email address, telephone number (if you give it), your message, the advert you are enquiring about and your agreement for us to pass your details on.

If you use the call or website buttons on an advert, or view an advert, we record that the action happened, the advert concerned, a random identifier stored in your browser for that visit, and a one-way scrambled (hashed) code created from your IP address and browser details. We use these to count activity and prevent misuse. They do not include your name or contact details.

If you set up a truck alert, we collect your email address, the search or advert you want alerts about, and when you confirmed the alert. We send a confirmation email first, and an alert only starts once you click the link in it.

If you create a dealer account, we collect your email address and password (stored securely by our authentication provider), your business name, county, contact email address, telephone number and website, and the adverts and photos you submit. When your browser supports it, photos are resized and their embedded data, such as location, is removed before upload. Once an advert is approved, your business name, town and county, the description you give of your business, your advert details and photos are shown publicly, including on your dealer page. Your contact email address and telephone number are not shown on the site; buyers can call you or visit your website using the buttons on your adverts.

When you visit the site, our hosting and security providers process technical information such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you request, so that the site works and stays secure.

3. How we use your information

  • To handle your enquiry: we send enquiries about a truck to its seller, and our finance team at Direct Commercial Finance (DCF) handles finance enquiries. We rely on this being necessary to take steps at your request before entering into a contract, and on our legitimate interests in connecting buyers and sellers, alongside the agreement you give on the enquiry form
  • To provide dealer accounts and publish adverts, including reviewing adverts before they go live. We rely on this being necessary for our agreement with you.
  • To send truck alerts you ask for: emails about new trucks matching your search, or a price drop on a truck, at most once a day. We rely on your consent, which you can withdraw at any time using the unsubscribe link in every alert email.
  • To keep the site secure and prevent spam and misuse, including through automated security checks. We rely on our legitimate interests.
  • To measure advert activity, such as views and enquiries, so we can run and improve the marketplace and show sellers how their adverts perform. We rely on our legitimate interests.
  • To meet our legal obligations and deal with any legal claims.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for automated decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on you.

4. Who we share it with

  • The seller of a truck you enquire about receives your enquiry details so they can reply to you.
  • Finance enquiries are handled by our own finance team at Direct Commercial Finance and are not passed to another company unless you agree. Where DCF cannot arrange the finance itself, and you have agreed on the enquiry form, we may pass your enquiry to a partner finance broker we work with, which will use your information under its own privacy notice. If you apply for finance, DCF acts as a finance broker and will share your information with lenders as explained in DCF’s privacy notice at dcfgroup.co.uk/privacy-policy.
  • Service providers who run parts of the site for us and may only use your information on our instructions: Supabase (database, file storage and sign-in, hosted in London), Vercel (website hosting), Resend (email delivery), Cloudflare (the Turnstile security check on enquiry and alert forms) and Google (web fonts, which your browser loads directly from Google).
  • Others where the law requires, for example the police or a regulator, or to protect our rights.

5. International transfers

Some of our service providers may process information outside the UK, for example in the United States. Where they do, we rely on UK adequacy regulations (including the UK–US data bridge where the provider is certified) or the UK International Data Transfer Addendum to the EU standard contractual clauses to protect your information.

6. How long we keep it

We keep personal information only for as long as we need it for the purposes in this notice, including to meet legal, accounting and reporting requirements. When it is no longer needed, we securely delete or anonymise it.

  • Buyer enquiries: 2 years from the enquiry, or longer if it leads to a finance agreement.
  • Advert activity records: 2 years.
  • Truck alerts: until you unsubscribe. Alerts that are never confirmed are deleted after 7 days.
  • Dealer accounts and adverts: while your account is open, and 12 months after it closes.
  • Hosting and security logs: for the short periods set by our hosting and security providers.

7. Cookies and browser storage

We do not use advertising or analytics cookies. The site stores a random identifier in your browser’s session storage while you view adverts, which is cleared when you close the browser tab. If you sign in to a dealer account, your sign-in session is kept in your browser’s storage until you sign out. The Cloudflare security check on enquiry forms may use similar technology to tell people from automated programs. These are strictly necessary for the site to work and stay secure.

8. Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to ask for a copy of your information, to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to receive it in a portable format. Where we rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time. To use these rights, email hello@trucksalot.co.uk. We will respond within one month.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please contact us first. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
